20 years in circular connectors. Thousands of field failure analyses. The conclusion remains: contact metals define reliability.
Today, I introduce our M8 Splitter (1 Male + 1 Female, 3-core, A/B Code) – built not just to specifications, but for the real physics of robotic motion.
Metal material strategy – proven by numbers
| Component | Material | Performance Data |
|---|---|---|
| Pin | Phosphor Bronze Au / Brass Au | Contact resistance ≤5mΩ (vs. industry typical 10-15mΩ) |
| Screw/Nut | Brass with Ni plating | Torque range: 0.3Nm (rec.) / 0.6Nm (max) – consistent after 50+ mating cycles |
| Insulator | PA+GF / TPU+GF | Insulation resistance ≥100MΩ @ 500V DC |

Why A/B code matters for Class A & B equipment
- A Code (standard M8): Universal pin assignment for sensors, actuators, and I/O boxes
- B Code (PROFINET-specific): Prevents mismating in mixed networks, critical for Class A continuous processes
In Class A (6-axis robots, SCARA, continuous-path control) and Class B (palletizers, indexing tables, intermittent high-load) applications, incorrect coding causes 12-15% of commissioning delays. A/B dual-code support eliminates this risk.
Test-validated environmental resilience
- Protection: IP67 (IEC 60529) – dust-tight and waterproof after 1m immersion
- Temperature range: -25°C to +80°C (dynamic) / -40°C to +80°C (static) – validated 500h thermal cycling
- Sealing: FKM / Silicone / Epoxy options – withstands coolant, cutting oil, and UV exposure
- Pollution degree 3 compliance – suitable for industrial floor environments
Electrical backbone
- Rated current: 3A @ 60V (IEC 61076-2-104 compliant)
- Insulation resistance: ≥100MΩ
- Contact resistance: ≤5mΩ – ensures minimal power loss over 5M+ flex cycles
The takeaway
This M8 Splitter delivers laboratory-grade contact stability in factory-floor conditions. Phosphor bronze + gold flash ensures micro-ohm stability. Dual A/B coding eliminates field errors. IP67 + wide temperature range keeps production running.
